I’m looking for a more or a definitive answer in terms of hours. Anything you can direct me toward where a coach has already answered this question would be great!
On both of the Garmin HR Dual the top right screw wouldn’t budge. The other three no problem.
In trying to unscrew the top right one the plastic piece around the screw broke off but the screw remained in, if that makes sense.
Garmin is replacing it with the Run version which a couple of people recommended so hopefully I’ll have better luck.

Are you saying that if training at your AeT feels super easy vs moderately easy plus- very technical terms I know- it may indicated ADS?
I’m going down South Kaibab and up Bright Angel on 11\3.
My plan was down as fast as possible hiking so I know my HR will be below recovery and up at the pace that will keep me below AeT. I wasn’t really planning on stopping on a regular schedule but the NPS statement made me second guess myself. Normally I don’t put any stock in what they say but because they knew enough to tell me to stay below AeT I wanted to double check!
I train at 2300 and know my hiking paces for average gradient. I’ve recently hiked in Flagstaff between 9000-12000 and by RPE by AeT was just a tad lower than at 2300.
Ever since I’ve slowed things down my hiking has been so much more enjoyable and I have no after effects. I’m constantly amazed that most hikers still hike as fast as possible, crash and complain how shitty they feel but won’t slow down their pace.
Would it be better to slow down the first lap and then be able to keep a consistent pace for both laps?
Scott
Today I trained on a hill with a 9% grade
Average HR 133, AeT is 145
For 6 minutes my HR was between 146-151 as
the grade went up to 22%Is this hill okay or not for my base training?
Thanks
My AeT threshold from the drift test is 148.
I really don’t know my max HR. Never been tested. When I imported all my Garmin info into training peaks, TP gave me a MaxHR of 200. I plugged that number into Garmin. But since I only train in Z1 or Z2 I wasn’t really concerned with my MaxHR.
Yes I understand and I have my correct numbers from the drift test.
I’m still unsure however if it’s best for me to be working from my AeT threshold to 10 beats below or if it is just as effective to work lower than 10 beats below.
Per the 24 week training plan it says to gear the AET threshold training from AET threshold to AeT -10
But I was also told that going lower than -10 below was just as effective.
It’s how low is too low that I want to understand and while I will ignore my watch, I still would like more clarification on lower is okay
Here’s a couple of results

It’s 106 in the garage today so the retest will have to wait. Is it possible that it can take almost 40 minutes for your heart rate to stabilize? The first half of my test has some ups and downs but the trend is up, the second half of my test is essentially a flat line. I wondering if I should have waited longer to start the test or if that slight up down movement is normal
Yes. I did calculate the drift and it was less than 5%_ but I’m still uncertain if I use the average heart rate for the 60 minutes or my heart rate at minute 1

Ok. I did the same thing. I didn’t wait long enough for my heart rate to stabilize but I think I have 48 minutes of usable data.
Can you confirm that using 145 is ok? That is the average heart rate for 48 minutes with the first 24 at 141 and the second 24 minutes at 148.
This was on a treadmill at steady pace and incline. I did not touch the dial! I can’t account for my Garmins odd speeds. I did wear a chest strap.
Thanks
Scott,
Regarding heat, if I did my AeT threshold test in my 90 degree plus garage (Arizona) would the data collected be incorrect and should I redo it?
