"I have always focused on developing a solid strength training foundation for whatever the goal and sport. Mountain sports, yoga, and cross-country skiing have all played a significant role in my life."

Ben is an experienced endurance and mountain coach who has helped athletes successfully achieve objectives across some of the world’s most demanding environments. His athletes have reached the summit of Mt. Everest, Denali, Aconcagua, and Mt. Rainier, completed R5 of the Grand Canyon, finished 50k and 100k ultramarathons, marathons, and excelled as backcountry skiers, rock climbers, through-hikers, and Nordic skiers. Ben’s coaching emphasizes long-term development, durability, and intelligent training that supports both performance and longevity in sport.

Ben began his coaching career with the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club (JHSC) in 2007 and continues to coach with the organization today. During his six years as Nordic Program Director and Head Coach, he earned Level 200 U.S. Ski & Snowboard certification, guided the club to U.S. Ski & Snowboard Certified Club status, and coached multiple national champions and NCAA championship competitors. His work spans youth development through elite-level performance, with a consistent focus on building resilient, self-aware athletes.

With a personal background in competitive Nordic skiing—including a Junior National medal and NCAA competition—Ben brings firsthand understanding of high-level endurance sport. Time spent living and skiing in Norway further shaped his appreciation for volume-based aerobic training and sustainable progression.

A serious backcountry skiing injury in his 20s became a turning point in Ben’s approach to training and coaching. Through recovery, reflection, and continued education—including 200-hour yoga teacher training and Vipassana meditation practice—he developed a deeper understanding of when to push and when to recover. This perspective now informs his coaching philosophy: helping athletes reach ambitious goals while maintaining balance, health, and long-term consistency.

Ben finds the greatest satisfaction in seeing athletes not only achieve their objectives, but continue to apply healthy training principles and lifestyle habits long after their goal event or expedition is complete.
