Hi,
If I interpret Scott correctly you should use the average HR of the first half of your test. You can read this thread: https://uphillathlete.com/forums/topic/aet-drift-test-hard-to-dial-in-initial-hr/ could you pleas share your activity on TP?

Ok. Thanks! So to estimate how much energy needed for an event is by trial and error during training.
Hi,
AnT was by lab/lactate test.
Thanks-

Hi Dada,
my AnT is 183.
Thanks-
Hi Scott,
Following this thread and trying to figure the upper limit for my AeT.
Did a test the other day. Treadmill 10% grade and after 18min warm-up I started the test with HR at 168bpm (based on previous season/test).
The first 30min avg HR 173 and second 30min HR 176, a drift of 1,7%.

Based on above discussion and with a drift of 1,7% I guess the upper limit of my AeT is above 173? Would love to hear your thoughts and to have an educated guess
Thank you for a great resource.
Sorry, my bad. Initial is initial and not the average. Got it. Tried to delete above post.
Hi Scott,
First of all THANK YOU for being a great source of knowledge.
In above reply you write “If drift is less than 5% use the initial HR you start the test at for your AeT estimation.”. Should the ‘initial HR’ be the average of the first half or the HR at beginning of the first half?
Thanks in advance
hi Luke, what is your thoughts regarding how much water you need per hour fore races around 6h? I do understand its highly depending on how warm the wheater is but do you ha any rule of thumb regarding minimum water intake?
