Support our Afghan Female Uphill Athletes

Uphill Athlete has been a long time supporter of Ascend Athletics, a nonprofit outdoor athletics program for young girls based in Afghanistan. We have done fundraising for them at past events and our coaches have provided coaching and training plans to Ascend at no charge.

Founder Marina LeGree started Ascend Athletics as a foundational climbing and outdoors program to promote and nurture lives of independence and confidence for Afghan girls ages 15-24.

How you can help:

A united group of Uphill Athlete coaches have created a fundraising drive with a matching ratio of 1:1. We have put together $3,000

By contributing we will match your donation, dollar for dollar, up to $3,000. (Update on Sept 12, we are over $13,000!)

Our goal is to raise $30,000. Every contribution is important! Please donate because you will be fundamentally shifting a life or death situation to one of safety and hope for young Afghan women.

Our contributions will help Ascend in three key areas:

On-going evacuation efforts.

Resettlement costs for both girls and families who do get out. Steve House and his family have committed to hosting a refugee family in their home for a year.

The ongoing support of Afghan women who will remain in Afghanistan.

Thank you for coming together as a community to make a difference in the lives of these young female athletes.
