This is super helpful! So right now I am technically on week 7 in the base plan, but I was just going to switch weeks 7 and 8 around, and do week 8 (Recovery) this week and week 7 next week (and week 9 as originally planned the week afterwards). Would that work?
Also: can you provide a specific example of how to slowly build back into the week? For my case: Monday was my scheduled rest day (I did a call with Carolyn and we agreed on two hikes for the weekend followed by rest on Monday). Then Tuesday I was feeling awful so I took it as a day off, and on Wednesday I only managed to get in an Upper Body Strength workout. How should I proceed for the rest of the week? Apologies if this is too specific.

Can you remind me what hrTSS is and what is the difference between it and TSS? I attended the talk on Tuesday but there was a lot of info for a newbie like me and I’m afraid I must have missed the more nuanced points.

Do I also need to swap Wednesdays and Thursdays? Wednesday seems to be a rest day during some weeks in my plan and I was wondering whether Mon and Wed are too close together to be the rest days? But then Fridays are rest days too in the recovery weeks, and I get worried that I am messing with everything if I swap the rest days :O

I’m training for Mt Baker. This is going to be my first mountaineering endeavor, and I am doing it to raise money for Fred Hutch as part of Climb to Fight Cancer, in memory of my mum who passed away from breast cancer 4 years ago. I’m super nervous about the climb because I don’t want to let down any of the people who donated towards my climb and because I’ve had a rough time recovering from COVID and I’m not in great shape. I’m hoping the base plan will help me get in shape for my mid-August climb 🙂
