I’m happy to see Runalyze adopt the Pa:Hr metric!
FWIW, you can manually upload workouts to Runalyze. It seems to sync most workouts automatically from Garmin for me, but missed a bike ride yesterday that I had to upload as a .tcx from Garmin manually.
Go to your calendar, select event, click “Analyze” on the screen that pops up, then Pa:Hr will be in the table to the right of the graphs.
FWIW – Runalyze provides Pa:Hr, is free, and has almost all of the features of Training Peaks. The one difference is that you cannont, as far as I can tell, zoom in on a section of a workout to get Pa:Hr (for example, just looking at Pa:Hr for the last hour of a 1:15 AeT test run).

Am I doing this right? #44261I’ve had a very similar experience, I was finally just able to get my Pa:Hr to pass 5% last week (outside test) by trying to keep my HR just slightly above 160 (averaged 162 for whole run). So, I’m guessing my HR to keep Pa:Hr <5% is probably 158-160 (this was first run day after a recovery week, btw).
While I could have continued past the hour mark pretty easily, it was still a pretty tough run and one that I don’t think I could repeat day after day. But, I am also a relatively new runner…
I’ve been doing a lot of (what I thought was) Z2 running and hiking but more going by feel of “easy” and something I could do day after day, which usually means an HR around 145.I just tested my AnT today and ended up with 180 bpm, for context, so I technically am still in the ADS range.
Thanks for the thorough response, Rebecca! This is helpful.
To answer your questions, yes my fasted training is primarily in Z1 with about 30% in Z2. I feel lethargic from the start, but the nausea usually kicks in at about 30 minutes (I have a 500 ft hill outside my front door, it’s usually on the way down that I start getting nauseous).
I’ll try eating an egg or some salmon first, if the nauseau persists, would it be worth it to carry a small carb source e.g. Gu? I.e. is 30 minutes fasted going to accomplish that much?

The first three tests were not in a super well rested state and took place about three weeks apart from one another. The fourth and then yesterdays were in a very well rested state. I was not fatigued at the end of the run test yesterday, I felt like I could have gone another hour easily – which makes me think maybe 157 is closer to my AeT (???).
Thanks for the link to the intensity article, I’d not read that one yet!
