My advice might deviate from UA here, but I would do 2-3 weeks of VO2MAX training first. After that, fully concentrate on staying below AeT. The VO2MAX should help you to stay below the AeT more easily.

Hi,
Nosebreathing test is unreliable. I suggest you do a proper Aet test and then come back with the result.
Cheers

Hi Pete,
Just with a lot of hip flexor activity.

Thank you very much guys!
Don’t get me wrong, I really appreciate the recommendations here (Ezfit, Tape, doubled up socks) but in my opinion, those are just cures for non-fitting boots. The boot is not in the right size or the boot does not fit your foot.
I used to do all these tricks when I had the wrong boot. After I found the right boot, no blisters and no tricks required anymore. My boots got old though, and I need new ones. My last model had an instep ratchet which kept my foot in position (despite all other buckles open). Problem is, other boots do not have those ratchets and I’m just not familiar which buckles setup for a 4 buckle boot is the one which comes close to the instep ratchet.

DadaServus Thomas,
Hope you still do great since my last question ?
I have a follow up question on this topic since it happened again.
I was trying Jubiläumsgrat on Sat. Conditions:
– Around -1°C at summit
– no wind
– a lot of sunWe started from Zugspitze. The first 15 minutes were great and I felt strong. Then I started to develop orthostatic dysregulation: dizziness, issues to remain concentrated, high pulse, black outs after switching from climbing to standing upright, weakness, sweating. Of course, we had to turn around.
I was properly fueled and had been drinking properly before.
I suffer from high blood pressure in the morning, and therefore take Candesartan after waking up. The day before, I took Methylphenidat as a treatment for ADD and in the mornings I take Moclobemid (not a Triglyceride based med) as a leftover from a depression (but at the lowest possible dose since I’m symptom free and can fade out these mads slowly).
Generally, when I go to a sauna, my HR will rise to 150bpm, and I get anxious from being in there. When I take baths, my Garmin watch detects high levels of stress when I’m in the bath tube.
What would you suggest to prevent this from happening?
Should I see a doctor and what should I tell him/her? Could you even recommend a colleague in Munich?
Cheers
DadaPicture too large 🙁
Hi Scott,
Thx for the advice! I tried Wrightsocks already (the double-layered sock with a thin inner sock and a merino outside sock, see picture). It was better though but after 600 vertical meters the same mess. I returned my new boots already and go to the next bootfitter today.
Fingers crossed.
Dada
Thx, I’ll try this.

Hi Jim,
Thx, I ordered the patches 🙂 can’t wait to try them.

Hm, that existing track was set way too steep, that is correct.
Not sure if I can change the forward lean though.
The same happened to me during freeriding in Fieberbrunn yesterday. I paid attention to my stretching afterwards. Stretching Iliacus helped to stand upright, but there was still a subtle pull on my abdomen. After stretching Psoas, it was fine.
One other thing I discovered, after uphill I have a significant belly. Could this be caused through an anterior pelvic tilt I get during skitouring?
Cheers
DadaDid you do the VO2MAX testing fasted? Doing VO2max fasted, can cause you to not reach your full potential in those tests.
My Garmin value where pretty in line with Garmin values.
To be honest, VO2MAX training caused my best performance at ski mountaineering at altitudes of 4000m.
Dada on January 9, 2022 at 3:58 pm · in reply to: HIT Zone 4 – my HR is high and pace is decelerating… #61819One more thing which caught my attention: for VO2max intervals one should aim at maximizing the time @ intensity. So, I would cut the rest interval in half (90s) to keep the HR elevated and to reach VO2MAX intensities faster and longer.
Cheers
DadaNormally, it takes 2-3 tours for your body to adopt to ski touring at the beginning of the season. Afterwards, your HR should settle in. And the AeT could be different for different activities.
