You should test it! Follow the Uphill Athlete method for testing AeT (15 min warmup + 1hr <5% drift) and use the app at the same time. It’ll only be N=1 but its fun to do science experiments on yourself! It only costs $10 (app) and an hour of your time.
I’ve been following Marco Altini’s blog for some time now, he has some interesting studies using HRV in training methodology. This one below, he describes how he determined a process to derive AeT from gathering HRV during a typical training session.
It sounds promising, but I’m skeptical.
Is this the same AeT as the UA AeT?
You’d still need to do a test to determine AnT too of course.
