Elongating Base Period Within Set Training Plan

I have the 16-week mountaineering training plan and had original hopes of executing on objectives in June. As this may not happen and my plans go out the window, I’d like to adjust the training plan and enhance the earlier base period. Does it make sense to copy elements of the plan and add more weeks, or should I move the entire plan forward and instead create a new base period approach? Or maybe just continue with the whole thing since it’s so long?

I was only a few weeks into the plan when everything changed, for context.

    Both!

16 weeks is actually on the short end of a macrocycle. It’s the minimum that we recommend in order to see any noticeable improvement. Although it’s disappointing to cancel a trip, if you have more time to prepare, it’ll be worth it.
