Martin is an expert in high-altitude physiology. He has held FKTs in some of the highest mountains in the world. He brings science and practice together and is currently carrying out exciting graduate work in this field. He has coached athletes for 5 years, with many successfully summiting Everest, Denali, Aconcagua and the Seven Summits.
Martin has been based in Chamonix for 13 years, considered the hub of mountain sports all year round. His athletes are mountaineers and runners from all over the world. He coaches trail runners preparing for UTMB and other major ultra-running races. He also trains road runners planning for marathons and other endurance challenges. He provides evidence-based training advice backed by his personal experiences as a fast mountain athlete.
He loves looking for endurance challenges in the mountains and developed a passion for speed ascents. He managed to run Mont Blanc from Aiguille du Midi via 3 Monts in 2 hours and 10 minutes. In 2019, he completed his long-term Three Summits Project: Monte Rosa-Mont Blanc-Gran Paradiso in one push (29 hours climbing/running), 100km with almost 10,000m climbing.
He has written a thesis on “Faster acclimatization upon re-ascent”. He plans to expand his knowledge with an M.Sc. in altitude physiology. He trains for vertical km races and faster ascents on peaks. He plans to go to Pakistan and Nepal to try a speed ascent (maybe FKT) on an 8000m peak. He dreams of trying an FKT on Everest one day.
