Thank you for the very helpful reply. It was particularly helpful to be reminded that it’s ok to do speeds and other short efforts that push one’s HR above their AeT. I’m still working on raising my AeT towards 10% of my LT so have been as careful as possible to stay below, but I’ve got to develop that efficiency. It’s tricky with striding because I suspect shuffling may well be detrimental to ingraining good technique so the skier is left in a quandary if they want to stay below AeT.
