How to avoid ultra-processed foods on long hikes?

    Hi,

I’m 45 and each summer I do a 3-week trek here in Norway. I sleep at huts; some have just a kitchen but most have an assortment of canned food. This canned food and the dry-food backs are all ultra-processed I guess. I’ve recently become aware of the health issues of eating these kinds of foods.

As I do not carry a tent, sleeping bag, cooking equipment I do have some space to pack food to maybe cover some of my days. Oatmeal for breakfast and nuts for snacks are easy options, but I struggle to find good alternatives that are not too heavy and can stand days without a fridge.

Any tips or links to resources?

    Tanks, Paul
