Ascenders in Fix Rope Pulling working in 24 week plan

I noticed there were some changes to the plan – some additional notes, fleshed out descriptions, etc. In the Rope Pulling workout it is suggested we affix ascenders for the cable rows and tricep extensions. How are the ascenders used in this case? I’m having trouble envisioning what to do with them or how to attach them even.
