How to extend transition period

    Hi All,

I was doing a transition period for 8 weeks, with focus on training for an alpine goal and alpine climbing. Then I got hit by a rock when climbing and was injured for 4 weeks now. For 2 weeks I could not do anything, then I started with easy climbing, running and ski-mountaineering for 2 weeks, approximately with the volume of the last weeks of the transition period.
Are there rules how to extend the transition period and when to start with the base period?
    Thanks!

I’m sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you are recovering well now. There are no simple rules for determining the length of any period of training. This is all dependent on too many factors. I suggest being very conservative, especially if you are coming back from and injury like this. At the very most I would start at the volume of training you were at the week before you got injured. It might be wise to start a volume smaller than this. You will know in a week or two if you have started too high.
