    Hi guys,

I suffer from a herniated disc (L5/S1) and will get surgery tmr. Keep my fingers crossed.

    1. Are there any guidelines when to start earliest with the following activities:

    – walking/hiking
    – ski mountaineering
    – running
    – climbing
    – cycling

    2. What could a training plan look like in the first 2 months after surgery? (You can skomit CORE here since I already have sufficient resources about CORE training; I look for Z1/Z2, max strength and ME regimes; targeted activity is mountaineering/Alpinism)

    Thank you very much!

Best of luck with your surgery!! Going forward, PATIENCE is the key ingredient to success as you manage the healing process, with your commitment to return back to high level activity. Depending on the amount of bone work done, a walking program is usually started fairly early on. Remember, there is some tissue healing that must occur before being subjected to impact loads. This is the type of situation where a coach can help your volume and intensity progressions. It depends somewhat on your previous training load and experience.
    Cheers,
