Pain and injuries are inevitable so it is important to properly manage them. The use of medications has helped millions of people successfully manage their pain. Options include a variety of both OTC (over-the-counter) and prescription medications. Each class of medication has its own unique activity for treating pain as well as its own set of considerations. Nonpharmacologic interventions, such as exercise, physical therapy, and psychotherapy that are aimed at self-management can be effective adjuncts to pharmacotherapy, and such multi-modal approaches can reduce overall costs of care and reduce the amount of opioid-containing medications used. Hopefully, you find this information useful.
