In training for Aconcagua in November how should I think about mapping the training goal below to
    – training mostly on stair stepper or building stairs at sea level? Same time and vertical but more weight? faster pace Zone Zone 2 pace on a stairstepper?

    – doing some hiking in Colorado this summer, so at least some altitude? Should we carry heavier packs or some other modification?

    Gratefully

    Aconcagua training goal from
    Alpine Ascents

A reasonable goal would be to
    ascend 3,200–3,500 ft
    carrying the noted pack weight
in a two- to three-hour period,

Or roughly 1,200–1,500 vertical feet per hour.

A: Building stairs or box steps ups, work better and are more specific then stair stepper machine. The weight on your weighted climbs should slowly go to at least the weight you are carrying during your Aconcagua event.

A: Yes , altitude training will help you managing the acclimatisation on your event , and perform at altitude.
Similar to the answer above, your pack should mimic the weight that you are carrying on Aconcagua
