Weight loss requires calorie restriction. Calorie restriction impacts recovery and the ability to complete workouts. Is there a general rule for how much weight one should or could try to lose if any in the months before a expedition?

Richard I remember Steve talked about this at length in one of his podcasts. I can’t look it up right now, but did in the podcast archives and I think you’ll find his thoughts very helpful.

I’ve found that losing weight slowly, like 1-2 pounds a week, usually works better without messing up your workouts too much. Besides, calorie restriction can mess with your recovery and performance.
If you’re struggling to lose weight while keeping your strength, some people try using supplements. I’ve seen that you can buy steroids online, and some athletes use them to help with performance and recovery.
