This is the best ice climbing technique critique I’ve seen online, Will Gadd commenting on a client (who wasn’t climbing badly, just not as efficient). I learned a ton just by _watching_ the video. I’m sure you can get more by videoing yourself with self-diagnosis or with the “floating” ice climbers’ help 🙂
Video self-assessment for ice climbing

I’m considering setting up a video camera on a tripod and recording my self ice climbing as a means of self-assessment and self-improvement. I want to know if anyone else has done this and if so how did it go?
I figure that pro athletes in move conventional sports like basketball review their game day footage. Its painfully obvious to me when I watch new ice climbers how there movement economy sucks… on the other end of the spectrum I climb with a few really good ice climbers that seem to “float,” not because they’re that much stronger than me (they’re not) but because their movement economy is 1000x better than mine.
