Which is more effective for base training

    One of my training hills is 9% average grade with max grade of 22%

    Which is better

    1. Training at my AeT base pace but have about 6 minutes above AeT or

    2. Training at my recovery pace in order to keep my heart rate below AeT on the steep sections?

    Can you slow down for the steep part so you can do option A but stay under your threshold?
